چکیده
Methods Thirty patients with diabetes mellitus type II who were scheduled for elective coronary artery bypass grafting were evaluated. As a control group, 30 patients without diabetes mellitus matched for age, EuroScore, and educational level were examined. All patients underwent a battery of neurologic and neuropsychologic tests the day before surgery, 7 days after surgery, and 4 months after surgery.

A Review on Relationship between Type II Diabetes and Cognitive Impairment
The association between diabetes and cognitive impairment is controversial. This systematic review examines the relationship of Cognitive Impairment in people with diabetes mellitus. The incidence of “Cognitive Impairment” was higher in individuals with diabetes than in those without diabetes in nine of ten studies reporting this aggregate outcome. These findings showed an associated between ty...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The importance of perioperative cognitive decline has long been debated. We recently demonstrated a significant correlation between perioperative cognitive decline and long-term cognitive dysfunction. Despite this association, some still question the importance of these changes in cognitive function to the quality of life of patients and their families. The purpose of our...
متن کاملFactors Associated with Cognitive Decline in Elderly Diabetics
BACKGROUND/AIMS Although recent evidence has indicated that type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in the elderly is a risk factor for cognitive dysfunction or dementia, few studies have prospectively observed this potential cognitive decline. In the current study, we performed cognitive assessments at baseline and after 3 years in the same patient group in an attempt to reveal the contributions of di...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Improvements in cardiac surgery mortality and morbidity have focused interest on the neurological injury such as stroke and cognitive decline that may accompany an otherwise successful operation. We aimed to investigate (1) the rate of stroke, new ischemic change on MRI, and cognitive impairment after cardiac valve surgery; and (2) the controversial relationship between p...

INTRODUCTION Neurological and neurocognitive dysfunction occurs frequently in the large number of increasingly elderly patients undergoing cardiac surgery every year. Perioperative cognitive deficits have been shown to persist after discharge and up to several years after surgery. More importantly, perioperative cognitive decline is predictive of long-term cognitive dysfunction, reduced quality...
